Turbofans vs. Turbojets: Advantages for PTE

When it comes to aircraft propulsion, two main types of turbines are used: turbojet and turbofan. While both turbines share some similarities, there are significant differences that make them distinct from one another.

Turbojet engines have a simple design that includes a compressor, a combustion chamber, and a turbine. The compressor takes in air, compresses it, and feeds it into the combustion chamber, where fuel is added and ignited. The expanding gases from the combustion process then drive the turbine, which powers the compressor and generates thrust. While turbojets are efficient at high speeds, they are not as fuel-efficient at lower speeds, making them less suitable for commercial aircraft.

On the other hand, turbofan engines have a more complex design that includes an additional fan at the front of the engine. The fan takes in a large amount of air and bypasses it around the core of the engine, creating additional thrust. This bypass airflow helps to improve fuel efficiency, making turbofans more fuel-efficient and economical than turbojets. Additionally, the bypass airflow also helps to reduce noise, making them quieter than turbojets.

Portable Turbine Energy (PTE) has taken the technology of turbofan engines and adapted it for use in their innovative turbine energy solutions. PTE's portable and adaptable systems are housed in two plus 20-foot shipping containers that contain patented technology using airplane turbines to generate up to 20 megawatts of power. Unlike traditional generators, PTE's patented and highly efficient design allows it to consume up to 20% less fuel, making it a cost-effective and Eco-friendly solution for businesses and communities worldwide.

PTE's turbofan generators can also work with various fuels, including propane, natural gas, diesel, ethanol, and even flare gas, making it a flexible and adaptable option for power generation. Additionally, PTE meets all federal, state, and local sound limitations applicable to more common gasoline-powered generators, providing a quiet and comfortable power source.

In conclusion, while both turbojet and turbofan turbines have their benefits, the more complex design of turbofan turbines offers several advantages, including higher fuel efficiency and lower noise levels. PTE has taken the technology of turbofan turbines and adapted it for use in their innovative and affordable turbine energy solutions, providing reliable and cost-effective power to communities and industries worldwide.
